The Sword of Truth.

It is famous the Christic maxim: “Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free” (John, 8:32), – free from the bondage of fear, of prejudice, of vicious doubts. Free from all kinds of emotional, intellectual or even religious captivity, in the diabolic extremisms and dogmatisms that asphyxiate and degenerate the legitimate Spirituality. In short, we could translate the Sayings of the Great Master into more modern concepts: “You will know the Truth, and the Truth will make you happy.” Thus, the crux of our reflection becomes the meaning of Truth.
JESUS asserted: “I did not come to bring peace, but a sword” (Matthew, 10:34). The sword is one of the strongest symbols in reference to the tongue – the firm, straightforward and sharp Voice of Truth, which, above all, does not submit to please others nor bends to the interests or illusions of any group or institution, no matter how powerful they may be. The clearest expression of this implicit meaning of the sword as the Voice of God to the Earth is a sharp sword coming out of the Christ’s mouth, according to the vision attributed to John, the Evangelist, in the Book of Revelation (Revelation, 19:15).
The Redeemer came to bring the conflict that matures, the division of families, and communities for the evolutionary selection according to the attunement of one’s values, interests and level of spirituality. That is why, He also asserted that, when He arrived in a house, He would put three against two and two against three (Luke, 12:52).
Do not take tenderness and sweetness for genuine signs of kindness nor complex of victim for innocence. The Spirit of Truth, in His Gospels, warned relentlessly and vehemently that these psychological patterns often portray hypocrisy and disguised evil.
The Purity of heart and the genuine alignment with the Sublime Domain of Consciousness necessarily pass through the filters of the Divine Light of the Supreme Word (which strikes pride) and are subsequently tested (and confirmed) by the Mystic Sword that hurts the ego and its pretensions of superiority, virtue or sanctity.
Here lies the great human drama in this essential field of Life and of the Soul, exponentially maximized in the current Information Era: to mistake, very easily, the voice of the conscience for cultural, family, academic, professional, religious hypnoses…
How, then, in a civilization filled with so much relativism, contradiction and cynicism, does one find the voices that represent this Sublime Voice? JESUS revealed a clear indicator: His authentic disciples would be recognized by unmistakable Signs from Heaven. Paraphrasing the Christ once again, we leave a serious alert-invitation to the ones receiving our message: “Those who have eyes to see and ears to hear let them see and hear… “(Matthew, 13:9, 13:17).
