Mystery revealed

Charity, in place of punishment.

“Mercy, instead of sacrifice”¹.

Love, in reverse of fear.

Joy, rather than despair.

Gratitude, in substitution for bitterness.

Paradox is a recurring law in spiritual matters. That is why the Christ-Verb Jesus said that anyone who wanted to save their life, wholly, would have to lose it, according to worldly values and priorities.²

Seek your cross (the discipline of the good you must do), put it on your shoulders (the systematic practice of this service), and you will discover your bliss, your true and only happiness – that which comes from the spirit and fills the conscience with a sense of purpose and a feeling of duty accomplished and deep personal fulfillment.
