Self-Control and Victory, in the Age of Speed.

Yes, we live the era of speed. Win those who get ahead, adapt themselves faster, and meet the requirements of the culture, of the market and their own necessities, with ability and efficiency. But it is important to make some comments about this subject of paramount importance.

Agility has nothing to do with haste. Haste may only indicate restlessness, inner turmoil, hysteria, imbalance of forces and mismanagement of resources.

Researchers of the human brain have already found a direct correlation between low cycles of the brain waves with creative states and states that ease learning, from whence one can clearly infer that straining and being quick do not necessarily mean being dynamic, creative and, mainly, effective.

These researchers of neurosciences also reveal that working without proper sleep reduces by at least 30% the productivity and the quality of what you do. Studying without a few good hours of sleep (being clearer: six hours at least) is almost a waste of time and a sterile consumption: the brain, without this minimum quote of rest, does not have time to transfer the mnemonic records from the hippocampus, where the new knowledge is temporarily filed, to the neo-cortex, where it will be permanently stored.

The tenser you are, the less time you have, the more overwhelmed by activities, commitments and necessities you are, take a deep breath, meditate, pray, seek your core, serenity and self-control. It will be this way that you will find the best resources to solve complex problems and gain insight into original solutions to the challenges and difficulties you face.

Do not let your hearts be troubled, the Master said, because I have prepared a place for you next to my Father. Do not worry about tomorrow – also assured the Lord – if God takes care of the birds of the air and so clothes the grass in the field, the more He will do for you, men of little faith.

Let’s reflect a little on the words of the Messiah and understand that to be modern is, first of all, to be whole, multiple and integrated. And nobody will get there, by disregarding their own biorhythms, without being aligned with their own core of consciousness and will, since that the future is of those who own themselves and not of those who are owned by haste. Time is magical, when you have control over yourself; and it is tragic, when you are enslaved by it.
